· Use skills and procedures needed to operate various technologies such as scanners, digital cameras and hand-held computers.
· Identify basic software applications such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.

Genre TP, Genre FP

Description of Activity:
The students will create a Genre graphic organizer with the categories of Biographies, Autobiographies, Folk Tales and Fables.
- The teacher will preload the Genre template (TP) into the computer.
- The teacher will demonstrate to the students that they should first complete the Venn diagram, then the four groups below the titles Biographies, Autobiographies, Folk Tales, Fables.
- The teacher will show how to highlight all of one group, ex. Biographies, and change the color so all are uniform.
- The students will enter their name.
- The students will only change their groups’ colors when finished (Biographies blue, etc.).
- Students are not allowed to change colors once set.
- The teacher will then proceed to correct the organizer by calling on students.
- Students will then drag their bubbles to match the correct version displayed.
- The students will now print their organizer.
- The teacher can quickly glance at a student’s organizer and see by color variation whether they fully understand the subject of genre.

How will students be assessed?
Did the students complete the graphic organizer? Did they follow directions? If they completed their own organizer, do their groups demonstrate understanding of genre?
